Intuitive vs rational
The Science of Decision-Making: Exploring the Intertwining of Intuition and Rationality
2 weeks ago, a professor asked me an excellent question: namely about 1) intuitive versus 2) rational decision-making in science. She asked the question as I gave a talk on how “good decision-making can make us better scientists”…
On one hand, scientific research is a systematic study designed to fill the gaps in our knowledge, and rational decision-making is essential to this process. On the other hand, since information is often limited (after all, we are exploring unknown territories), intuitive decision-making can also play a crucial role in guiding us through the uncertainties of research and leading to important discoveries.
It made me very(!) curious about how scientists Actually make their decisions.
So, how do you make decisions?
